My name is Steve Ellis and I have been with CICC
for four years. I am currently the Vice President of CICC. My family and I have taken in multiple car functions
over the years. My wife, Cathy, and I have been married for almost 15 years. I have spent most of my working career
in the manufacturing field. Cathy is a therapist/social worker in an alternative program with Indianapolis Public Schools.
We have two boys, Bryson (12) and Ashton (7). We moved to Indiana about 10 years ago from West Central Illinois.
I have been around cars and drug to car shows almost my entire life.
My step-dad had Chevelles
(2 1970 LS6-one convertible, one hard top) and that is what got me interested in cars. I bought a 1969 Camaro in 1991 shortly
after graduating from high school. I have replaced everything on that car except the floor pans and the roof.
All new metal and paint was done in 1992 which helped get rid of the fender flares and 50 tires! We had it painted dark
green. It has a 388 with a scat crank, six inch rods, Dart Sportsman II heads, Victor junior intake topped off with
a 750 double pumper, Super Comp headers, three inch exhaust with Flowmaster 40 Series mufflers, 700R4 transmission that runs
into a narrowed nine inch rearend with 411 gears with a Detroit Locker. It has 17x8 Hopster Wheels on the front and
18X10 Hopsters on the rear.
Then for our 10th wedding anniversary my wife bought me a 2002 White t-top SLP six speed Camaro (1
of 268). Since then I have added decals to replicate a Phase III ZL1 Camaro, lowered it and put Corvette Wheels.
It has Eibach springs, KYB adjustable shocks, QTP stainless steel headers, three inch off road Y-pipe, GMMG exhaust and tips,
SLP air box and has been tuned.
Both cars have been on the Hot Rod Power Tour, Woodward Dream
Cruise, Street Machine Nationals, Good Guys (69), Super Chevy, Fred Gibb Memorial Car Show, several laps around IMS and most
local cruise spots. We started going on the power tour when our oldest son was 9 months old and have been to at least
on stop on the tour each year since, making the long haul gang in 2004 and 2006. We have many stories and memories of
our trips. It’s always about the journey not the destination!
