2010

Central Indiana Camaro Club

April 5th Meeting Notes

Met at SPEED SERVICE PERFORMANCE CENTER LLC, 1500 E. Main St., Brownsburg, IN.

Had a lighter turn out for the meeting, no doubt due to the severe weather and the Butler Championship game. The following was discussed:

·   David Boyce brought out the POLAR POP Camaro for us to check out, a 2010 L-99 Auto 2SS that is completely “skinned” with promotional covering. Underneath it is Imperial Blue Metallic (black interior).  There is a picture of it in the “Mondays meeting” thread on the message board. Starting May 5th through mid-July you can register to win it at www.polarpop.com. The promotion is for the mid-west region only, so odds will be fairly good! It will receive a full detailing and have the “skins” removed for the new lucky owner. Pretty cool!!!

·   We discussed the successful inaugural “Pedder’s Day Show” at Raymond’s alignment. Had a good turn out and worked out well for all. There currently is a brief description and pictures on main page of the Club web-site.

·   Several upcoming events were discussed; 4th Annual Lynhurst Car & Craft Show Apr. 17th, The Firebird Club Mystery Cruise Apr. 18th, Indy on Wheels Apr. 24th, the 2010 Spring Fling May 1st, the F-Body event at O.R.P., and a couple of others. For details go the “Calendar of Events” link on the club web-site. There is also some information on the club message board as well as some show flyers posted in the photos section of the club’s Facebook page.

·   Chino Barreto who arranged our sponsorship with Bill Estes Chevrolet couldn’t attend, but he has spoken with our representative there as to our not holding meetings there and explained our situation which they are understanding of.

·   We have yet to hear anything about Pole Day activities at the Speedway like we attended last year. With the Camaro performing Pace Car duties again it is hoped that something similar will be done again this year. Steve and Dennis will be checking with their GM contacts to inquire about it.

·   A vote was taken to adopt SPEED SERVICE PERFORMANCE CENTER as our new meeting place. Since they have more room to accommodate us and no time limitations, as well as a location that is more accommodating for our membership in most cases, the motion was passed unanimously I believe.

·   Our President Steve Ellis mentioned that he and Brian Morgan will be attending the Camaro5 event in Georgia the weekend of April 17th. Should be a fun weekend!

·   Steve has made some calls and is inquiring about obtaining insurance coverage for club events and meetings. The rates quoted so far seem very reasonable, although there are still some questions and details that need to be worked out. Hope to have it in place for our May 8th event.

·   A lot of the meeting dealt with the Club’s upcoming event May 8th at Speed Service.  Rich of Speed Service has been working diligently on the event and has arranged to have Hooter’s provide a food trailer for some good eats during the event. If the event has some proceeds donated to charity Hooter’s will have some of their “Hooter Girls” attend the event as well.  He has been in contact with the group “Hoosier’s Helping Heroes” (www.hoosiershelpingheroes.org) in that respect. Since it was thought this was a win-win for all, helping a great organization and provide a good draw for the show, with the limited time available to get the proper permits and to proceed with arrangements it was put to a vote and overwhelming approved by the members in attendance.  Rich will also be arranging for some great items to be donated and raffled off to benefit the charity. There are a few more details that will need to be worked out so it was decided we need to have a SPECIAL CLUB MEETING CONCERNING THE EVENT 7:00PM Monday April 19th at Speed Service. We would very much like everyone’s participation and input for this meeting so please try and attend if possible.  Will get the information posted on the club site and message board and hope to get a newsletter concerning this out ASAP!

·   We still haven’t heard back from our contacts with GM concerning any trademark infringements etc. on logos put on club t-shirts. Know of some t-shirt/apparel companies licensed by GM and will try and contact them as well. Once a design is approved plan on getting t-shirts for members as well as linking an apparel site on the club site so you can purchase other items with the club logo on them.

·   Craig Maners also mentioned possibly creating a club Paypal account that members and other could use to pay their yearly dues, as well as purchase any apparel or club items. A good idea that will be looked into further.

·   Also discussed that we would like to have a Fall show/event this year as well sometime in August possibly. Will be discussing that further a future meetings. The sooner the better to get word out in advance.

That covers the majority of the meeting discussion. Once again an eventful meeting with a lot covered!!!!
